Shockwave therapy involves the delivery of high intensity soundwaves from a handheld device which penetrate into the underlying tissues, this is thought to increase blood flow and stimulate tissue repair.
Shockwave therapy is effective in the treatment of the following conditions:
- Plantar fasciitis
- Tendinopathies such as: Achilles, Tennis Elbow, Gluteal, Hamstring and Patella
- Shin splints
- Calcific tendonitis of the shoulder
There is usually some immediate relief following the initial treatment and the research suggests that 3-5 treatments conducted once a week will achieve a significant decrease in pain.
Our Physiotherapists will combine Shockwave therapy with other treatments and targeted exercise to achieve the best results!
